If you’ve been blogging for a while, or have even researched about how to start a blog, you have probably heard of the term ‘niche’. For those not familiar with a niche it is essentially a narrow group of people that your blog appeals to. My blog for example is a blog about blogging. I cover how to start a blog, research tools, monetizing your blog. I appeal to people that are looking to make money online, and don’t know where to start.
So now you know what a niche is but what is an evergreen niche? An evergreen niche is essentially a niche that you can market to or write about indefinitely. Before I get into evergreen niches I’d like to give you examples of what an evergreen niche isn’t. Tomorrow a total solar eclipse will cross the United States and a lot of people are selling eclipse glasses and t shirts for the event. This would not be an evergreen niche because once it is over people will not be searching much for these items. Keywords relating to the solar eclipse may be experiencing higher traffic at the moment but it will die down soon as total eclipses don’t happen often.
So what is an evergreen niche?
An evergreen niche, as stated above is a niche that you can talk about forever. It’s something that people are always going to have a need for. Health, making money online, and dating are examples of a few evergreen niches. Below you can find some other examples of evergreen niches.
- Credit Repair
- Weight Loss
- Financial Consulting/Budgeting
- Sports Apparel
These are just a few examples of evergreen niches. There are many more niches that you can choose from.
How do I choose an evergreen niche that’s right for me?
A general rule of thumb when choosing a niche is to choose something that you can talk about for a long time. You want to choose something that you are passionate about. My goal when choosing a niche is to pick something that doesn’t feel like work when I write about it. I love blogging so making this blog was a no-brainer. I’m always talking to my friends about my blogs and how to build them. Keep in mind that it’s not always going to be super easy, but for the most part writing should be fun.
